Arlene Ortiz, Ph.D., NCSP, is an Assistant Teaching Professor and Coordinator of the Graduate Certificate in Bilingual School Psychology at UC Santa Barbara within the Department of Clinical, Counseling, and School Psychology. Dr. Ortiz is engaged in scholarship related to bilingual school psychology as well as assessment and intervention for culturally and linguistically diverse students.
Dr. Ortiz is a bilingual, licensed psychologist and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist who teaches, mentors, and supervises school psychology graduate students. Dr. Ortiz coordinates and supervises the Strengthening Minds and Hearts Program, which provides strength-based, individualized wellness support for children in the schools.
Dr. Ortiz completed her Ph.D. in School Psychology from the Pennsylvania State University in 2014, her predoctoral internship at Virginia Beach City Public Schools, and her postdoctoral training at the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. She is currently the president-elect of the California Consortium for Bilingual School Psychology.
